Oilers organization Creates the largest game day 5050 draw.
Ben Stelter, the six-year-old boy who captured the hearts of all Albertans and most NHL teams and their fan base last year, brought awareness to the aggressive form of brain cancer known as glioblastoma.
Stelter began his fight before his 5th birthday and became a fixture in last year's Oilers playoff run as he attended 10 games, during the run all were victories.
Numerous Oilers players and management surrounded themselves with Stelter and gave him all the courage and well wishes they could to help him in his fight against this terrible disease.
Unfortunately, Stelter did not survive his battle and passed away on August 10th, 2022. Throughout this season, the Oilers have put on a 5050 draw to help raise money in this battle. The Ben Stelter Fund also was created to help younger children fight cancer raising funds.
Before tonight's game, the Ben Stelter fund along with the Oilers organization and Alberta cancer decided to put on the largest game day 5050 possible.
The hope was to raise $5 million by the end of the evening. With the generosity of Albertans, I do believe they will surpass that goal by quite a bit.
