The rumors continue to swirl throughout the NHL but the possibility of the Edmonton Oilers trading Philip Broberg intensifies. These rumours heightened recently when the Oilers loaned him to the Bakersfield Condors and called up defenceman Ben Gleason.

These talks have continued and on the 32 thoughts podcast, co-host Elliotte Friedman revealed the Oilers intentions for Broberg and that a trade could be imminent.

It's clear the Oilers are preparing to move Broberg as he has not performed as they have hoped. He was selected in the 2019 entry draft, first round eight pick overall. He was widely expected to crack the lineup by now and to be a contributing factor to the Oilers defence.

If the Oilers decide to trade him, his value will come at a price and the Oilers should receive a big return including a first round pick and another prospect as defensemen are at a premium this year and the availability across the league is very thin.

It remains to be seen what Ken Holland will do, but one thing is certain Broberg cannot remain with the Oilers if they have no interest in playing him.
