The Edmonton Oilers are currently mired in a four-game losing streak, but pundits and fans are beginning to notice issues with their captain Connor McDavid as he has not been himself since his three-game suspension against Conor Garland.

Over the past eight games between the Four Nations face off and after, McDavid has shown a drop in his production that is not of character for the man who won gold for Canada during the illustrious tournament.

McDavid's game has unravelled some with poor defensive play

The Oilers captain's stats are coming in and they are not promising as McDavid has gone -12 and has had no even strength points in his last four games in two periods.
This season has not been the best for McDavid even though his numbers would be considered outstanding for most NHL players.
His last couple of seasons have seen a dramatic drop in his goal scoring as he was constantly in the running for the Rocket Richard Trophy and seems to be falling away from that pace.

McDavid's game is reflecting the Oilers recent struggles

It's been evident that several Oilers forwards and defense have had struggles this year as well including Zach Hyman who is nowhere near the number, he scored last year as he has dropped back to earth on a pace that's more familiar especially when his days were with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Evan Bouchard's game has also taken a major hit recently as it appears he's struggling with his basic defensive game which has cost the Oilers several goals against and game-winning goals.
In in the contract here where most players play their best as Bouchard has been far from his best and has struggled mightily at times.
But all eyes will be focused on McDavid as he will need to take the reins and help lead his team out of this tailspin and get themselves back on the winning track as the team settles into the stretch run of the season with the trade deadline looming and the playoffs around the corner.
