According to new reports from Oilers reporter Jim Matheson, prospect Shane LaChance will be of interest to other teams in trade discussions at the deadline.

Lachance, who is the son of former NHL player Scott Lachance, has been having a great season this year as he has played 32 games, scoring 10 goals with 15 assists for 25 points and has 26 penalty minutes which will likely eclipse all his totals last year where he played 40 games and had 27 points.

Lachance maybe involved in trade talks

With the numbers he is producing and the fact that he is 6 foot 5 and 218 lbs, maybe a trade chip that the Edmonton Oilers are willing to move if they're in need of shoring up their defence and their bottom six forwards.
The Oilers have several prospects within their organization including Lachance who would be a tempting player to bring into their roster. Matthew Savoie, Beau Akey, Connor Carrick and even Brady Stonehouse are all players that could be made available if the price is right.
Lachance was chosen by the Oilers in 2021, sixth round 186 overall and many felt that he would not make the team or be a player considered. This notion appears to be diminishing as his game continues to improve and show signs that he will be a diamond in the rough.

Trade deadline is on everyone's mind with little over a week remaining

The Oilers are a win now team and it may come down to general manager Stan Bowman asking himself in his staff whether these prospects are willing to keep or help them attract a more prominent player through trade which will give the Oilers a better chance to compete for a Stanley Cup this year.
This window all in approach has been growing over the past several weeks up until the Four Nations face off. Since then, the Oilers have not played well at all and have lost every game other road trip thus far including a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning last evening.
Goaltending and defence were the culprits for last night's loss, but the team has stated that this may be a one off time and the theatres will get back to their winning ways in the next few weeks.
