Edmonton Oilers anthem singer Robert Clark shared a heartfelt health update on Sunday, announcing that he's been diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia, a rare but highly treatable form of cancer.
Anthem singer speaks on treatment he will undergo
Clark shared the news with fans in a video, explaining his diagnosis and his outlook.
Long story short, after a whole bunch of blood tests, an ultrasound, and a bone marrow biopsy, I've been diagnosed with hairy cell leukemia. It sounds kind of worse than it is. Nobody wants to be told they have cancer, but it's a very, very treatable type.
It's very treatable, this kind of Leukemia, and the treatment I'm going to be going through is, it's not considered curable, but it will put me into remission, almost indefinitely.

That there is hope for remission is certainly good news for the beloved singer, who's been entertaining Oilers' fans since 2013.
Robert Clark's powerful voice and emotional renditions of O Canada have become a fixture at Oilers' home games, sometimes going into the stands to join the fans, an Oilers' tradition that started during the team's 2017 post-season run.
The treatment for the Leukemia, says Clark, will begin around November 10 and lasts for about 8-10 weeks, which means his operatic voice will not be heard at some of Edmonton's home games, though he will schedule his treatment to minimize his absence from Rogers Place.
«The only thing I ask people for is just send your positive vibes,» he said. «I've got a pretty good support system, and I'm very optimistic. My specialist knows a ton about this, and he's really put my mind at ease.»
For more information about Hairy Cell Leukemia, Clark has asked fans to visit www.hairycellleukemia.org - and thanked everyone for their continued support: «Love you all, and yeah, we'll see you around.»
The Oilers community has been outpouring their support for Clark since his announcement.
Here at Oilers Daily, we send Robert Clark our deepest sympathies and heartfelt support.
