Ales Hemsky was quality player for the Oilers, and is remembered fondly by fans for his relentless work ethic and ferocious style of play. However, he wasn't always liked by the Edmonton media, and fans are coming with the receipts.

Oilers fans have been digging up Mark Spector's bizarre tirade of criticism towards Ales Hemsky.

Who on the team takes responsibility for Ales Hemsky, the epitome of poor leadership and professional indifference, who stands as an awful example for an impressionable core.

Hemsky doesn't work on his game post-practice; he doesn't produce during games; he is eternally injured; he is overpaid for his production.

Plenty of Oilers fans came out to voice their support for Hemsky and their appreciation for his time as an Oiler.

The Czech-born forward was drafted by the Oilers 13th overall in 2001, and went on to play 11 seasons for the team - through their Cup Final run in 2006 and well into the decade of darkness too. He was always an electric player, remembered for his speed and tenacity on the forecheck, and willingness to score dirty goals in an era where scoring was hard to come by. Fans are still fond of Hemsky, showing him love when he attended an Oilers playoff game this year.

The Oilers media can have an often rocky relationship with some players, especially in past eras where the team wasn't as successful as they are now. It may be a subconscious reason Oilers fans are so loud - they have to drown out the negativity of the media sometimes.
