In last night's game between Columbus and Seattle, a scary scene happened for the Jackets when their top prospect Adam Fantilli limped off the ice extremely awkwardly after a collision on the boards. At first it wasn't certain what the injury was, but now the Blue Jackets have officially announced that Fantilli suffered a skate cut on the ankle.

It's an extremely tough blow for the third overall pick in the last draft. At just 19 years old, Fantilli was quietly producing really well with the Jackets, scoring 12 goals and 27 points in 49 games on a team that is struggling both on and off the ice.

Friedman's statement also mentions that Fantilli will not play in the Jackets game tomorrow against the Blues, and will travel back to Columbus to receive further medical evaluation. Hopefully the injury isn't major, and won't sideline Fantilli for too long in his rookie year. It's grossly reminiscent on Erik Karlsson's Achilles injury he sustained while he was with the Ottawa Senators, with the skate placement in that area of the leg and the immediate limp off. Again, hopefully Fantilli gets the best possible health diagnosis.
