REPORT: NHL Player Enters Players Substance Abuse and Assistance Program
The NHL has a fantastic system in place that enables players to get in touch and get expert aid when they need it. The Predators' Michael McCarron has made the decision to use the assistance the NHL provides when needed in terms of substanceabuse, mental health or family problems.
It would be premature to speculate on McCarron's motivation for joining the program at this point because athletes join for a number of reasons. Anything from substance misuse to other psychological problems like sadness, anxiety, coping with the death of a loved one, etc., might be the cause.
This program is in place at the NHL so that the players are aware of the resources accessible to them.
It's fantastic to see McCarron making use of the tools at his disposal.
