There are big changes in store for the Toronto Maple Leafs since Brad Treliving has taken over.
There's been talk of William Nylander being traded due to his high contract demands, but recent reports suggest he may not be on the trading block anymore.
With the team's core players commanding high salaries and not much success to show for it, it's possible that someone may be considered trade bait.
Although nothing is official, rumors suggest that John Tavares may be the player the Leafs are looking to move instead of Nylander.
However, this may prove to be a challenge as Tavares has a no-trade clause and an $11 million AAV cap hit.
If Treliving wants to make a deal, he may need to sweeten the pot by retaining some of Tavares' contract. Despite these challenges, Tavares' impressive performance last season, with 36 goals and 44 assists for 80 points, means the Leafs could expect a good return in the form of picks, prospects, or an NHL player.
