Jayden Grubbe didn't have much interest in the Edmonton Oilers when he was growing up, but that's all changed since he signed with the team this summer. Fortunately, Grubbe was saved from a summer of uncertainty when he was traded to the Oilers by Ken Holland.

It's no surprise that the young center has decided to switch his loyalties - who wouldn't?

Although Grubbe was drafted by the New York Rangers in 2021, they weren't planning on offering him a contract until June 1st.

Not wanting to go through the draft process again, he was prepared to face a month of uncertainty until the Oilers called him on the deadline.

With two years of development under his belt, the two-hundred-foot center was acquired for two picks and is now ready to head to Bakersfield.

While Grubbe, an Alberta native who plays in Red Deer, hopes to make the Oilers team from day one, he knows there's a lot of work ahead.
