The 20-year-old center has been hot as of late as he has seven goals in nine assists for 16 points through 25 games which included a goal and an assist along with being a + 2 and six shots last evening.
Savoie seems to have surpassed Noah Philp who many felt would be on the Oilers this season as he had a strong training camp and was one of the last players to be sent down to Bakersfield.
His skill level certainly is better then some of the other players on the Oilers roster including Jeff Skinner and Corey Perry who seem to have played past their prime and would be a better center for the fourth line.
Savoie was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres back in 2022, first round, 9th pick overall. During the summer, on July 5th former interim general manager Jeff Jackson traded Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio in exchange for Savoie.
Many felt this was a shrewd move as the Oilers have been deemed one of the oldest teams in the NHL and needed some youth into their depth chart along with skill and speed.
It's just a matter of time before he cracks the lineup whether it's due to injury or the type of schedule that's coming along as the NHL continues to be in a compressed state with many games between now and February when the Four Nations Faceoff is set to begin.
