Former Edmonton Oilers defenceman Vincent Desharnais has journeyed to three different NHL teams this season, and now has landed in San Jose - where former teammate Klim Kostin is thrilled to welcome him.

Klim Kostin has been in tough with the San Jose Sharks this season,
often being a healthy scratch and facing an early departure from the NHL. For now though, he'll get a reunion with a teammate from a better time.

Klim Kostin thrilled to welcome former Oiler teammate Vincent Desharnais to San Jose Sharks

In a recent interview with San Jose reporters, Desharnais revealed that Klim Kostin was one of the first to reach out to him after news of the trade, and Kostin's message seemed to convey some real relief to see an old friend.
»I was pretty close to [Kostin]. So as soon as I got traded, he shot me a text. He was so pumped. This morning he came to see me. He was like 'Oh brother, so happy to see you. It's been so long.' He's a great guy. He's a great player.

Klim Kostin is one of the most unique players in the NHL at the moment - a player who has succeeded nowhere except with Edmonton.
In 57 games with the Oilers Kostin scored 21 points and was a playoff monster. Elsewhere in the NHL, he's never topped 10 points. Kostin's still a great physical presence and one of the best fighters in the league, but that's an outdated player type.
For his time with the Oilers, where he actually succeeded and was adored by fans, Kostin still holds a big place in his heart for Edmonton, even visiting to watch in the playoffs last year.

Vinny Desharnais will now be trying his best to settle in with San Jose and live up to his $2M contract signed last offseason.
Hopefully on a rebuilding team Desharnais can take on more minutes, and improve his game. Oilers fans are still wishing the best for both Desharnais and Kostin, two players who gave their all for Edmonton.
