Utah Hockey Club goaltender Connor Ingram is entering the NHL Player's Assistance Program, and has taken to social media to reveal the reason of dealing with the passing of his mother.

The Edmonton Oilers were heavily rumoured to be pursuing a goalie trade with Utah Hockey Club, but with this information revealed, it's very possible Utah wasn't looking to move a goalie at all.

Connor Ingram seeking grief counselling in NHL Player's Assistance Program

Reports surfaced earlier today from Utah Hockey Club that Ingram would be entering the player assistance program for an indefinite period.
Later, Connor Ingram took to social media directly to explain that he's seeking help following the passing of his mother.
For those of you that don't know, earlier this season I lost my mother to breast cancer. After trying to make a return to playing, I have come to realize that I am not myself.

At this point in my life, I need to put my health first, and take the proper time I need away to come back at 100%. Though many view the program as a resource for substance abuse, I want to recognize all that they do.

I am once again privileged to have access to their network of world class health professionals to hopefully avoid long term negative effects of putting your health second. With the program's assistance, I look forward to getting the medical help I need and returning to a happy and healthy life.

It's very brave of Ingram to make this statement publicly, and inform the hockey world of the reason behind his visit. It helps reduce stigma around seeking help with mental health. It's not entirely clear, but it sounds like Ingram is entering grief counselling.
The 27 year old goaltender from Saskatoon had a breakout season last year with a .907 save percentage in 50 games, but this year fell back to a .892. His play has clearly been affected by his off-ice life, as his statement says.
The hockey world will be cheering for Ingram especially for his recovery and return. We here at OilersDaily extend our best wishes for Connor Ingram and his family.
