Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltender Matt Murray's placement on the Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) list has raised suspicions among fans and experts.

Despite being cleared to play since April 2nd, he is now deemed out for the next year+ which benefits the Maple Leafs' cap situation, as they are (negative) -$13M. The move has caught attention, especially with the team's manager, Brad Treliving, remaining tight-lipped.

Interesting he must of had a wild summer vacation and got «hurt»

Hey Chris, I'm sure the league does their due diligence but cause these ever be investigated? Thank you

The league needs to do something about this rule. It's led to multiple teams winning cups because of this or teams just throwing cap on the IR. It's a joke.

Some believe this tactic of placing players on LTIR warrants further investigation. Murray's decent record with 14 wins, 8 losses, and 2 ties, with a .906 save percentage, has led to questions about his sudden unavailability.
