Ever since he signed his 5 year $25M contract with the Edmonton Oilers, Jack Campbell has underperformed greatly the expectations of a starting goaltender. After a terrible start to this season, he was sent to the AHL in November, where he only continued to struggle. Now however, Campbell's play has turned around, and he may be on his way to earning another shot.

In his last ten games with the Bakersfield Condors, Jack Campbell has a 7-3 record with an impressive 2.73 GAA and .920 save percentage. If he can continue this level of play, the Oilers will be forced to call him up and give Campbell another look in the NHL.

At this point, the Oilers need to try to recoup any value they can from Jack Campbell, and the best way to do that would be for him to bounce back in the NHL. In reality, his massive contract will greatly aid him in being called up to make good on the team's investment. Perhaps it didn't happen as quickly as the Oilers hoped, but Campbell seems to have regained his confidence. Now, he just needs to try his best to help the Oilers win games in tandem with Stuart Skinner. Oilers writer Jim Matheson also reported on Campbell's recent success, but said the possibility of a recall was up in the air.'

If Campbell keeps this play up for just a few more weeks, he'll likely earn the call up and replace Calvin Pickard as the backup goalie. When he's back, if Campbell can string together any type of success, it would be much easier for the Oilers to move on from him at some point before next season.
