For the first time since being traded, former Edmonton Oilers first overall pick Taylor Hall called out the Chicago Blackhawks stating he was happy to be traded away from the Windy City.

Hall was a part of a mega trade that took place earlier this week when the Colorado Avalanche traded their superstar Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes which included Hall in the deal.

Hall relieved to be away from Blackhawks and happy on a contender

Hall's season with the Blackhawks has been disappointing as he is only scored nine goals with 24 points it has been a - 15 through 46 games. During an interview with Scott Powers of the Athletic, he explained how he felt about moving to the Hurricanes.

«My playing time in Chicago, for whatever reason, was not what I would have liked it to be,» Hall said. «So I was happy to be traded, and I was happy to come to a really good team that has a culture in place and a structure that I feel fits well with me.» - Taylor Hall Carolina Hurricanes

Hall has been around the NHL for quite some time and has been bounced to seven different teams. The 33-year-old was drafted by the Oilers in 2010 and played for the organization till 2016 where he was moved to the New Jersey Devils for Adam Larsson.

«They're on a different timeline than my career is, right? So I get it. I understand it. I wanted to play more. I'm definitely a better player than the amount I was playing. But you also understand where they're coming from.» -Taylor Hall on the Blackhawks trading him

The best season of Hall's career came with New Jersey in 2017-18 when he scored 93 points and edged out Nathan MacKinnon for the Hart Trophy. It was also the only one of Hall's four seasons in New Jersey in which the Devils made the playoffs and they fell in the first round. - Cam Lewis Oilersnation

«I was shocked, to be honest with you.» Connor Bedard shares his thoughts on the Taylor Hall trade.

Since that deal, he has played for the Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, Blackhawks and the defunct Arizona Coyotes. Through 880 games played, he scored 275 goals with 447 assists for 722 points.

Hall outspoken about his time with Blackhawks

Hall's direct comment regarding the culture of the Blackhawks certainly is telling as the team continues to flail near the bottom of the standings and does not appear to show any signs of improvement in in the next couple of years.

It's safe to say Hall will be a rental for the Hurricanes and will likely become an unrestricted free agent and will likely seek a lower cost deal to stay in the league.

It remains to be seen how effective he will be with the Hurricanes but it's clear that the Eastern Conference team is going all in for the Stanley Cup this year.
