Oilers coach Knoblauch makes a gutsy decision with the team
Coming off a 5 day break between games and just beginning to claw their way back into a playoff spot, the Oilers were tasked with keeping up their momentum against a quality team in the Carllina Hurricanes last night. Just before the game, Oilers' head coach Kris Knoblauch made a bold decision to keep the team rolling - and it paid off.
At the beginning of last night's game, Knoblauch started the third line of Ryan McLeod, Warren Foegele, and Sam Gagner. The move quickly paid off with the Oilers scoring early, and keeping the pace up from there.
On the GotYerBack podcast, TSN analysts Ryan Rishaug and Jason Strudwick broke down the gutsy decision from Knoblauch. When the team has the opportunity to start the generational talent in McDavid, starting the third line energized and empowered the rest of the team - all of whom need to be on board if they were going to beat the Hurricanes and later to return to a playoff spot.
Clearly, the decision paid off as the Oilers pounced early and didn't relent. They went on to secure a 6-1 win, and extend their winning streak to five games.
