Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews comment on working together, answer who has a better shot
Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews recently got together to make an advertisement video, and now have commented on putting their own personal spin into it, and the experience of doing so.
McDavid and Matthews recreated a previous McDonald's advertisement that featured Wayne Gretzky and Mats Sundin.
McDavid and Matthews comment on personal friendship after last project together
In Elliotte Friedman's latest edition of the 32 Thoughts Blog, the NHL insider reached to to find that there was essentially no writing in the ad - that McDavid and Matthews just spoke to each other as usual and brought their own personalities to the video.
«We definitely had some fun with it,» Matthews added. «The one where I hit Connor's tooth out of his billboard is one of my favourites.»
Friedman did take the chance to press McDavid and Matthews on who the better shooter is. Frankly, shooting may be the only major category where it could be argued Matthews has been more successful - but McDavid did beat him in accuracy shooting at the all star game last year.
Matthews laughed: «Connor is one of the most accurate shooters in the league. I think we both take a lot of pride working on our accuracy.»
McDavid and Matthews were briefly teammates for Team North America in 2016, so although they may be on rival Canadian teams, they do have some relationship together. As two players at the top of the league, there's clearly an air of both mutual respect and competitiveness.
Friedman also mentioned that a sequel could be in the works, with Leon Draisaitl being the most likely to take the place of Matthews and join McDavid in the next project.
Anytime two of the top players in the NHL get together, especially on Canadian teams, It'll draw major interest from the fans based on their interactions together. It's a little lame that it has to be for an ad, but we may look back on it as a cool relic, just like with past superstars.
