According to Moneypuck.com, the Edmonton Oilers who were flying high and having strong odds to winning the Stanley Cup this year have collapsed dramatically as they have now pegged them at a 4.4% chance of winning the cup compared to 12% one month ago.

"At some point, this s**t's gotta stop with Evan Bouchard. At some point you need to play like you have a brain between your ears."

Over the past several games prior to the Four Nations face of an after have shown a trend that does not favour the Oilers in going far in the Stanley Cup playoffs this year.

Serious questions continue to swirl around Oilers goaltending

Over the past two games since the NHL has resumed its schedule, the Oilers have given up 13 goals against and have looked quite poor at times in their play especially in their defensive end.
Both Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard have been brutal at times and have been trending down with their save percentage despite the team being high in the standings.
The tandem has sunk to 25th in the league in terms of save percentage which is a dire warning for the team to find a way to play better defensively and get their goaltending back in order.

Trade deadline may help the Oilers and what's ailing them

In January, the team had gone on an incredible run after another slow startto their season where they had racked up a record of 18-4-1 and allowed them to take and compete with first place for the Pacific division.
Losing their last three games in a row, the Oilers now sit 7th overall in the league in 5th in their conference which appears to be a good place to be.
However, this trend has been less than ideal and the Oilers now find themselves asking more questions and looking to the NHL trade deadline as a potential solution to solving key areas of the team including a shutdown defenseman, new goaltender and secondary scoring.
The Oilers will now continue their road trip to the Sunshine State as the team begins its southern swing of its Eastern Conference road trip.
