The Oilers dropped a disappointing loss to the Flyers yesterday, and today Coach Knoblauch called out Stuart Skinner for the second time this month in response.

After the game yesterday, Coach Knoblauch defended Stuart Skinner by blaming the loss on costly turnovers, but today, he extended that to Stuart Skinner.

Oilers coach Knoblauch calls out Stuart Skinner for second time this month

While speaking to the media this morning about the loss from yesterday, Knoblauch admitted that while their turnovers weren't good, sometimes the goaltender needs to make a save too.
There are going to be mistakes, and that's where you need your goaltender to make some saves.

Earlier this month, Coach Knoblauch pulled a previously rare move and called out Stuart Skinner for allowing two unacceptable goals against.
The first two I felt he could've had. Those are - I thought he could have had those, I didn't think he found those.

Against the Colorado Avalanche in their last game before the 4 Nations Faceoff break, Coach Knoblauch pulled Stuart Skinner for the first time this season. With these comments, and pulling Skinner for the first time, it's clear Knoblauch is showing signs of frustration with his goaltender.

Knoblauch's recent actions with Skinner make goalie trade more likely

With the trade deadline just 5 games away now, the Oilers need to solidify their goalie position before the playoffs. Their playoff hopes cannot hinge on below average goaltending again.
Stuart Skinner is currently struggling mightily against top 10 teams, and Coach Knoblauch seems to understand that reality. The Oilers have been connected to several goaltenders in trade rumours, most notably being John Gibson and Karel Vejmelka.
Hopefully the Oilers are able to solidify their crease before the playoffs begin, because as it stands, even their coach is seemingly having doubts about the goalie.
