Edmonton Oilers legend and NHL great Wayne Gretzky sent Team Canada a gift in the locker room after last night's 4 Nations Faceoff Final win over Team USA.

Connor McDavid scored the overtime winner to cement his own legacy on Team Canada, once again following in the footsteps of the Great One.

Wayne Gretzky sends custom hats to Team Canada after 4 Nations Faceoff win

According to reports the morning after Team Canada's win, Gretzky sent in custom hats for Team Canada with the message «Be Great» instilled on them, with the Canada logo. Every player was seen wearing them.
Gretzky was also selected as Team Canada's honorary captain. Before the game, Gretzky came to center ice to represent Canada at the opening puck drop.
Some fans criticized Gretzky for showing some extra support towards Team USA during the event, coming out of their side of the bench and throwing them multiple thumbs up.
At the end of the day, he was there representing Canada, has a close relationship with many of the players, and showed his support for Canada after the game too.
In the playoffs last year, Gretzky showed his close relationship with Connor McDavid by directly addressing him and wishing the Oilers luck before the Stanley Cup Final.
Now, Gretzky is still around the NHL frequently as Alexander Ovechkin hunts down his goal record. Ovechkin is only 15 goals away from tying Gretzky's total record, and the Great One is in frequent contact cheering on Ovechkin during the pursuit.
Wayne Gretzky is still regarded as the best player in hockey history, and that could stand up to the test of time. It's great the NHL's greatest player in history is still gladly promoting the game.
