News broke from the Anaheim Ducks that goaltender John Gibson has sustained an upper body injury in did not return to the game after stopping 19 of 20 shots which could be tough news for the Edmonton Oilers.

Over the past couple of months, the Oilers have been one of the teams in the forefront of potentially acquiring Gibson from the Ducks after it was announced he'd be willing to waive his no movement clause to go to the Oilers.

Questions swirling around Stuart Skinner

Questions have been swirling around starting goaltending tandem Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard As several pundits and many fans feel that both goalies maybe not enough to win the Stanley Cup as there has been uneven play especially from Skinner.
Several pundits including Daily Faceoffs Frank Seravalli has thrown cold water on the notion of this trade rumor as he feels Gibson will want to be the number one goaltender without any question which could cause issues between himself and
Skinner.
Others have suggested that Skinner would be included in the trade package that would send him to Anaheim in exchange for Gibson as Gibson holds two years remaining on his contract worth $6.4 million per season.

Oilers look to bolster their lineup prior to deadline

With six games remaining between now and the trade deadline, the Oilers have decided to call up players like Matthew Savoie to evaluate their depth and prepare their final lists of players that they would be willing to trade for.
The team is currently on a five-game road trip where they lost 6-3 to the Philadelphia Flyers earlier today. The team will then face off against the capitals and then head to Florida for a matchup between the lightning and the Panthers.
This stretch run of games will be important as the Oilers try to cement their lead in the Pacific division and try to finish the stretch run on a positive note.
It will be a fascinating next few weeks on how the Oilers will finish their roster with a potential upgrading goal still in the wind.
