In recently released mic'd up clips from the Edmonton Oilers, defenceman Evan Bouchard was mocking and calling out the Kings for embellishment all over the ice.
In the first clip, Bouchard can be heard berating Kings forward Viktor Arvidsson for an alleged dive after a collision with Adam Henrique and Leon Draisaitl. In all honestly, it was a real tripping penalty, but that didn't stop Bouchard from letting Arvidsson hear his thought on the penalty - and his moustache.
In the second clip, Bouchard goes into the boards hard with Kings forward Blake Lizotte. The pair exchanged cross checks and some high sticks, but then Bouchard gave Lizotte a tap on the nose and laughed and said That hurt, eh?' him while skating apart.
Finally, Bouchard was able to rep his elite puck skills and properly chirp Kings forward Carl Grundstrom. After a puck bounced off his stick, Bouchard gave a wry laugh and told him to be able to handle a pass next time.
Now in his third full NHL season with the Oilers, Evan Bouchard is become a real superstar in the league at 24 years old. This season, Bouchard nearly doubled his career high in points with an incredible 82, and that success has continued into the postseason. Currently, Evan Bouchard sits second in playoff points per game by a defenceman, tied with Cale Makar and behind only Bobby Orr.
Bouchard is talking the talk and walking the walk this playoffs. If he continues to play this level of elite hockey in the playoffs, Bouchard can mouth off as much as he wants, and no one will be able to refute him.
