Earlier today, TSN's Chris Johntson revealed that the Oilers intend to keep between three or four of their unrestricted free agents now that their season is done.

It became clear as the Stanley Cup finals play it out that many of their bottom 6 and defensive players became valuable as the top lines were being shut down. Connor Brown and Mattias Janmark along with Foegele and Henrique carried the Oilers offensively especially in their three-game win streak.

Many questions remain with the team especially at the top level with general manager Ken Holland's contract expiring in five days. Team president Jeff Jackson will have to decide quickly on whether Holland will remain poor if Holland decides to retire.

The Oilers are currently in the cap crunch as they have $10.3 million in cap space and only have 14 players signed for next season. The team has three large contracts that they need to address including Leon dry seidel who will be eligible for a extension after July 1st, Evan Bouchard who is on one year of his bridge deal and Connor McDavid who will be eligible for an extension next summer.

It will be fascinating on how this team will navigate these times as cap space is limited and the team we'll have to get creative. Unrestricted free agency day will begin on July 1st at 12:00 PM eastern.
