The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Jake Walman form the San Jose Sharks, though no official announcement has been made yet, because of a roster issue.

While it was anticipated that Edmonton would acquire a blue-liner before the deadline, few could have predicted that Jake Walman would be the one on the move -- an "off radar" acquissition to say the least.

More reports have surfaced on the return of the trade, but no specifics. TSN insider Ryan Rishaug is reporting that the Oilers will send a conditional draft pick and prospect, while also taking on Walman's full $3.4M salary.
According to Seravalli, the "adventure" in the Oilers lineup is Cam Dinnen and Max Jones rotated in the lineup, suggesting that the team may be waiting to waive someone before making the official announcement.
Rosters are also set to expand at midnight tonight, so the Oil could make the announcement at that time as well. Alternatively, they may be waiting to make another roster move.
These factors are going to hold up the return of the trade, so fans will have to wait patiently for the official word. However, they can get excited that the team has made another splash with a great trade for Jake Walman.
