Several names stand out on this list including Matthew Savoie and Beau Akey who have been in the Oilers organization for the past year or two and will likely make the NHL within the next year.
Sam O'Reilly is another lock who will be on the Oilers roster when the time comes as he was the final choice in the 2024 entry draft 32nd in the first round.
Shane Lachance, The son of former NHL player Scott Lachance is in his sophomore year with Boston University who is having a good year compared to last year where he has played 25 games scoring nine goals with 15 assists for 24 points.
Last season, he played 40 games and only had 27 points. What's striking about Lachance is that he is 21 years old and stands at six foot 5 and 218 lbs and appears to have a scoring touch which could make him very valuable for the Oilers in the very near future.
What's even more surprising is that he was chosen in the sixth round in the 2021 entry draft 186th overall. There's no guarantee that he will make the NHL but considering that Curlock rates him this highly on the list must mean he has grown as a player and has shown some intangibles that could put him on the fast track to the NHL.
It's been documented that the Oilers are considered one of the oldest teams in the NHL and it's important that organizations like the Oilers need to have organizational depth to allow themselves to have long playoff success and control on their salary
cap.
With Savoie, Akey, O'Reilly and Roby Jarventie all looking promising, Lachance may be the diamond in the rough who could surprise many.
