As he was fielding questions, one reporter asked him if he tripped on a stick or was tripped by another player which led to a long pause and to McDavid responding with snarky comment of «what's the difference?» The reporter then pressed the issue further and asked him if there was any malicious intent by the player to which McDavid laughed and brushed off the idea.
It's been over a week since he suffered his injury when he tumbled into the boards during a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on the 1st shift. The NHL along with the Oilers fanbase held their breath as several pundits and other experts felt that this injury could be one that's long term.
McDavid has been productive in the first 10 games of his season as he has scored three goals with 7 assists for 10 points and is a + 4. The Oilers have been inconsistent this season and have been trying to recover from their slow start.
Luckily, he was marked as two to three weeks, but it appears that he is making a quick recovery and is back on the ice-skating during practice. The Oilers are now 2-0 since his absence began and it was clear that head coach Kris Knoblauch told his team that they need to dig in and find ways to win without their best player.
The Oilers are currently taking on the New Jersey Devils and will play against the Golden Knights and the Vancouver Canucks over the next several days. Hopefully the team will be able to string some wins together and take the pressure off with the knowledge that they are superstar is on the mend.
