It was revealed yesterday that Oilers president Jeff Jackson did not consult any players during his GM search and when he hired new general manager Stan Bowman.

During their introductory press conference, it was clear that Jackson found the candidate he was looking for and both men seemed to be aligned on how they wanted to run the team and how to construct it.

It seems odd that he did not consult the leadership group of the players especially given the nature of what happened to Bowman in Chicago.

\Jackson kept hammering the point home that what happened in Chicago was terrible and that Bowman has done extensive work on himself and on the situation. Jackson felt that this was enough to bring Bowman back into the general manager role.

This hire has been a lightning rod with the fans and how How they feel and why they think this was a poor choice to lead the Oilers especially after almost winning the Stanley Cup and having a great first three weeks of their summer with adding several players that will make a difference in the roster next year.

Though the true nature of how the hiring process went down will never be known as teams tend to keep those pieces of information to themselves. Whether you love or hate it, the hire has been made and Stan Bowman is now the general manager of the Oilers.
