JT Miller and Elias Pettersson have been confirmed to be in a locker room feud for some time now, that's been obviously weighing on the rest of the team.
UPDATE: The trade will see the Canucks receive Filip Chytil, a first round pick, and Victor Mancini. The Canucks will also send Erik Brannstrom in the trade.
According to Friedman, the Canucks will be scratching JT Miller tonight for the imminent deal to New York.
TSN insider Darren Dreger has reported that Miller has been officially asked to waive his no-move clause for the New York Rangers, which indicates that a trade is already agreed upon. Miller surely will accept the trade.
Miller has been the heartbeat of the Canucks for a few years, clearly an emotional player on and off the ice that has often lead the team to their recent successes.
However, the feud with Elias Pettersson has been a drag on two superstar players performing under expectations, and has been affecting the rest of the team. President Jim Rutherford admitted the locker room needed to be saved by a trade.
JT Miller has had a decent year, but is scoring under expectations with only 9 goals and 35 points through 40 games. He should help the Rangers contend immediately.
After taking the Oilers to Game 7 of the second round last year, it's looking less likely that the Canucks will even make the playoffs this year. It may depend on the return of the Miller trade, or if the Canucks actually improve without the feud in their locker room.
The full details of the trade will be updated here as they break.
