The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for one of the most important trade deadlines in franchise history, and all signs suggest an upgrade between the pipes. That said, NHL insider Frank Seravalli has recently named Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Petr Mrázek as a potential option for GM Stan Bowman leading up to the trade deadline.

The highly anticipated March 7th is right around the corner, and analysts around the league are making bold predictions regarding Stan Bowman's strategy.
A major area of concern this season for the Oilers have been goaltending, and the Oilers might be forced to make an upgrade if they want to a return to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Frank Seravalli suggests Petr Mrazek as a low cost option

It's no secret the Chicago Blackhawks have been in the bottom of the NHL standings all season long.
While the Hawks are the in the midst of a franchise rebuild, GM Kyle Davidson's troops are up for grabs, and Petr Mrazek offers exceptional value for his current price point.
I'm wondering if there's a playoff team *ahem* Edmonton, that could use a guy that's not going to have an acquisition cost. You just have to pay the third party broker to chop his pay in half. Get him down to $2.75 then you have him for next year as well.

-Frank Seravalli

"I know his numbers aren't pretty this year, but he started out the year well and his numbers last year were excellent. I think he's a pretty reliable bet for one more year at $2.75. I'm not saying just Edmonton, I'm making the same argument for Carolina or somewhere else."

-Frank Seravalli

Mrazek isnt exactly having the hottest season, but it's hard to blame him when you consider the players in front of him.
This season, the Czech goaltender posts a 10-19-2 record with a .890 SP, but there's no denying he's a gamer who shows steps up in big moments.
According to Oilers Nation, isn't far removed from a solid 2023-24 season, going 18-31-4 with a .907 save percentage and 3.05 goals against average.
With GM Stan Bowman's former ties to the Chicago Blackhawks, an interesting opportunity has come knocking on his doorstep, and Petr Mrazek definitely poses as a cheap option.
