Auston Matthews Signs Surprising Contract

In a surprising move, Prime Hydration, known for partnering with top athletes, signed Auston Matthews to a contract today.

The company's roster already includes names like UFC fighters Alex Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya, as well as soccer sensations Erling Haaland and Alisha Lehmann. Matthews is now part of this impressive lineup.

Fans had long speculated about which Maple Leafs player would join Prime Hydration. Their guesses proved accurate when Matthews was revealed as the chosen one. Logan Paul and KSI's decision to bring Matthews on board is not just a significant addition; it's a strategic move that could introduce hockey to a new generation of fans.

Controversy emerges with Auston Matthews and Prime

Logan Paul, the owner of Prime Hydration is a popular YouTuber that is known to controversy over the past decade, from lawsuits from his unsafe drink to promoting Crypto Scams to his fans, and some Leafs fans are not pleased over this move..

Back in August, the company Prime, specifically the energy drink that Matthews signed with, faced a class-action lawsuit for unsafe reasoning, details below are from a report covering the lawsuit from law.com:

"Class action over allegations that their sports drink Prime Hydration is falsely advertised and marketed as «healthy,» when it allegedly contains toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances that have been shown to cause cancer."

"Additionally, it's alleged that all of the information shared on the bottle is to intentionally convince customers the drink is healthy to consume and will have beneficial side effects, while failing to mention the drink contains harmful PFAS."

"Prime, which has been on the market for less than two years, raised $250 million in retail sales in its first year, and ranked sixth in sports drink sales in the U.S., allegedly advertises the product as being a healthy hydration drink that contains nutritious ingredients including vitamins and antioxidants, and being free of ingredients known to be harmful to human health."

«Diet is considered a major route of PFAS exposure for humans, and reasonable consumers purchasing the Product would not expect it to contain harmful man-made chemicals, such as PFAS,» said the complaint, claiming the EPA has identified that certain levels of PFAS exposure can lead to reproductive effects, including decreased fertility or increased high blood pressure in pregnant women, developmental effects or delays in children, increased risk of some cancers, interference with the body's natural hormones, increased cholesterol levels, reducing the body's ability to fight infections, and more."

While Auston Matthews' pockets are filled over this lawsuit, it comes with major backlash.
