BREAKING NEWS - The NHL Has Banned Pride, Indigenous and More Jerseys
The NHL Board of Governors has made a decision regarding specialty jerseys in warmups for the upcoming season.
According to Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the NHL, teams will no longer wear jerseys for warmups that represent causes such as Hockey Fights Cancer, Military Appreciation, Pride, and other specialty warmup jerseys.
This change is due to the belief that the jerseys were causing too much distraction.
Although the importance of these causes is acknowledged, it was felt that players choosing not to participate in certain events undermined their significance.
However, special theme nights will still be held by teams to support these causes, just without the jerseys. Fans can still purchase the jerseys, but they will no longer be worn during warmups. This decision aims to maintain the focus on the game and the underlying cause.
