As Winnipeg Jets fans hope, the 2022-2023 season would be a return to great regular season hockey that would lead to a playoff spot. In addition to 21 wins, 12 losses, and one overtime loss, the Jets have 43 points so far and on their way to accomplishing that .

However, as the trade deadline approaches in March there is a good possibility The Jets will be looking for an addition or two to help for a playoff run. The Chicago Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews is one such player who may be available.

With Toews becoming a UFA at the end of this season, Mike Johnson from TSN believes he may be willing to come to the Jets at a discount. A run in the Stanley Cup playoffs would allow the Jets to sign Toews to a new contract while the Blackhawks are rebuilding.

Adding fuel to the fire of this already intriguing rumor is the fact that the 34-year-old center was born in Winnipeg. With 20 points and 11 goals, Toews has played 31 games so far.
