Connor McDavid, the superstar of the Edmonton Oilers, has recently suffered an injury, adding to their troubles at the moment.

In light of the fact that his cap hit cannot be shifted to LTIR, the team is still close to the salary cap.

With McDavid's non-LTIR injury, the Oilers are carrying the bare minimum 18 skaters and two goaltenders. They have no cap space to call up anyone from the minors.

As the team is unable to ice a full NHL team at the moment, Ken Holland's utter lack of planning may have terrible consequences for the team.

The team currently has $408K in cap space due to McDavid's absence and their inability to be flexible with the cap. They are left hungry and thirsty for McDavid's presence.

They couldn't call up Raphael Lavoie if they even wanted to!

When Sam Gagner is signed to the AHL Bakersfield, he cannot even be a call-up option.

It would have been better if the salary cap had been managed better, and now we're set up for failure.
