The Edmonton Oilers goaltender situation becoming more critical as the team enters it's stretch run, and it appears that St Louis Blues starting goaltender Jordan Binnington maybe a likely trade target.
During the latest episode of the Ray and Dregs podcast, Darren Dreger revealed that some NHL executives believe St. Louis will be floating Jordan Binnington in trade after his stellar performance with Team Canada.
I get a text from a club exec, not related to the St. Louis Blues, saying «What do you think the percentage is that [Doug Armstrong] parlays this Jordan Binnington success?» And then he answers the question, «99.9%»

The NHL insider still clarified it's still just speculation and there's no deal currently in the works, but there is a belief that Binnington could be moved.
Blues always willing to listen to offers on their players
Over the past couple of trade deadlines, Blues general manager Doug Armstrong has never been shy to making deals to improve his roster in the short term and in the long term.
Binnington currently holds two more seasons at $6 million per year which is in line with the same cost of Anaheim Ducks goaltender
John Gibson.
The Blues appeared to be going nowhere this year and will likely not make the playoffs which will be the signal for Armstrong to make several deals once again.
Over the last couple of games for the Oilers, it's becoming clear that goaltending has become an issue and general manager Stan Bowman will need to make decisions sooner than later.
The Oilers and the Blues have had history from the offer sheets given to
Dylan Holloway and
Philip Broberg last summer and to the plucking of
Kasperi Kapanen off waivers, it's safe to say both general managers are willing to discuss a possible goaltender trade.
Other goalies have surfaced in trade rumors
The Oilers do have assets that they can use to get an improvement between the pipes and if the team wants to get over the top a goaltender will likely be needed.
Oilers fans will have to wait and watch to see how all this transpires but in the meantime the Oilers will continue their road trip after two disastrous games and hope that sunny Florida can change their fortunes.
