Blake Wheeler, the captain of the Winnipeg Jets underwent groin surgery on Friday and is expected to miss AT LEAST one month. Wheeler has been the Jets' glue throughout their surprising success this season, having nine goals and seventeen assists throughout twenty-nine games this season.

Despite the Jets most recent win against the Nashville Predators, it came with a tough loss. Wheeler blocked a shot with his ''private area'' and missed the second period, came back for the final frame and won the game in overtime 2-1.

Wheeler was absent from the Jets' practice the following morning, and head coach Rick Bowness revealed the following information:

»Incredible he played the third period through that injury. He's one tough cookie,» said Bowness.

That's not only the Jets' injury, defensemen Nate Schmidt is also out, and suffered an injury throughout the same game as Wheeler did, and is expected to miss a minimum of four to six weeks.
