One of the traditions in any pro sport is the announcer asking all patrons to stand and remove their hats to listen to the national anthems of each country being played. It shows respect and should always be sung properly and with pride.

Before the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers game, Panthers national anthem singer Ryan James stepped up to the mic and sang what he thought was the Canadian national anthem. It was far from it.

The singer was completely off-key, out of tune and all over the place while singing some of the words of Oh Canada. There was a picture taken before the game an hour before where it appears that he wasn't rehearsing for it, He was learning the words of the country's national anthem.

This is also it was more painful as many Leafs fans were in attendance for the game as numerous Canadians live in the Florida area for the winter and get to see the Maple Leafs once a year or twice a year down in Sunrise FL.

"I found out two hours before that I was actually going on. I had two hours to learn the national anthem for Canada, of which I was not familiar with before doing the gig."

"They were not. As much as I rehearsed it, I panicked and couldn't get back to where I needed to be.

In an interview with City TV, James apologized for mixing up the lyrics, insisting it wasn't on purpose.

"Canada, I am so sorry for flubbing the lyrics. I promise it was not intentional."
