Tyson Barrie, the 31-year-old defenseman has joined Oilers legend and Hall of Famer Paul Coffey who has recorded an assist streak in his last eight games.
Barrie is currently with his third team well spending time with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche. On October 10th, 2020 he signed as a free agent with the Oilers for one year $3.75 million deal, essentially as a prove-it contract to see if he would warrant more money. That worked because that season he amassed 48 points.
When free agency opened on July 28 2021 the Oilers retained Barrie's services for another three years at $13.5 million. This season, Barrie has played 34 games with four goals 23 assists, and 27 points he's also a + 3. This is a welcome sign from the defense corps offensively for this team.
It is quite the honor that he can share with Mr. Coffey and hopefully he can continue to build off of this streak.
