REPORT: The Edmonton Oilers Have Signed a Defensemen to a One Year Contract
The Edmonton Oilers have announced that they have signed defensemen Jason Demers to a 1-year two-way deal, which will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level. Demers was signed to a tryout by the Oilers at the start of the season but he was released just a few days after...
Which raises concern as to why he has been signed now, is there a move in the works that will send a Oilers defensemen packing, meaning Demers or someone from the Oilers AHL will be called up?
Demers has played 699 career games at the NHL level and has spent the last year in the KHL, he has officially been assigned to the Bakersfield Condors and has played in 23 games this season recording 36 shots on net and 9 assists.
A very smart move by the organization, a low-risk high-reward situation.
