With 14 days to go, NHL scouts throughout the league will continue to crisscross the continent and rack up their hotel bills and restaurant checks as they scout numerous team games. A smaller however important crowd of scouts was on hand for the Detroit Red Wings Oilers game tonight.

With a third of the league attending the Maple Leafs Chicago game, the Oilers game did garner attention from the Golden Knights, the Stars and the Coyotes.

The Oilers are at a crossroads with their organization with this coming March 3rd trade deadline as the team feels they can make a run for the playoffs and the cup.

They do have numerous holes to fill and with their current state in the salary cap, it will make it more difficult for general manager Ken Holland to make the necessary moves.

I do however think he will make some moves to bolster the team, especially in his defence corps.

Numerous names have come to the surface like, Erik Karlsson, Joel Edmundson and even Chicago forward Patrick Kane. It remains to be seen what Holland will do but that's what makes the trade deadline quite Interesting.
