Surprising Trade Talks Between Oilers and Leafs has been Revealed
Sam Lafferty found himself in trade talks between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks, but it turns out the conversation could have taken a different turn.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Maple Leafs reached out to the Edmonton Oilers, offering Lafferty in exchange for defenseman Vincent Desharnais.
The Oilers had shown interest in Lafferty before, and it's a logical move considering their fourth line could use a boost.
On the other hand, the Maple Leafs were on the hunt for help on their right side and some extra toughness, making Desharnais an appealing option. However, the deal didn't materialize.
In the end, the Maple Leafs managed to secure a fifth-round pick from the Canucks in exchange for Lafferty, avoiding the risk of losing him on waivers.
Lafferty is expected to play a significant role in Vancouver's forward lineup, contributing to their penalty kill and adding a physical presence.
