The Hockey Community Receives Heartbreaking News of a Passing
In a summer marked by sorrow for the hockey world, we mourn the passing of former World Junior Champion, Michele Basso. At just 26, he bravely battled bone sarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer.
Basso's hockey journey included representing Italy in the World Junior Championship and playing as a defenseman in the Italian league. He left an indelible mark on the game and will be fondly remembered. Our deepest condolences go to his loved ones and all touched by this loss.
Former Italian World Junior Championship member, and Italian league defenseman, Michele Basso has unfortunately passed away at the age of 26 after a long battle with a disease.
Basso played for @italia.hockey's U18 team in 2014-15, and their U20 team in 2015-16.
He also played 11 games with Asiago in the Italian League in 2015-16.
