Many predictions in regards to the Edmonton Oilers have this team reaching new heights this season and post-season. Predictions going as far as reaching and potentially winning the Stanley Cup this season. With improved play from Skinner and improved play from numerous players this season reaching that goal isn't that far of a stretch.
One player specifically reaching improved point production this season is Evan Bouchard. This 23 year old, Oakville born defenseman can't wait for the puck to drop this season.
Selected by Edmonton with the 10th pick in the 2018 Draft, he became the youngest defenseman in Oilers history to score a goal. He got that historic goal in a 4-1 win vs. the Washington Capitals on October 25th after he turned 19 five days before the game.
He began the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs by becoming the second defenseman in Oilers history with at least 8 points in a season. Paul Coffey did it 4 times.
With Tyson Barrie gone to Nashville, Bouchard looks to slot into the quarterback position on one of the NHL's most dangerous power-plays for a full season.
Bouchard got 36 points in his final 31 regular season games, and added 17 points in 12 Playoff games last year. Busting out for 70 points this season can be expected, surpassing his 40 points earned last season.
