Canucks' Desharnais opens up about first return to Edmonton amid trade rumours
Vancouver Canucks defenceman Vincent Desharnais is returning to face the Oilers for the first time in Edmonton tonight, and he spent some time looking back on his memorable tenure with the team.
Desharnais signed with the Canucks last offseason for 2 years at $2M, a deal Vancouver regretted quickly and reportedly have explored the trade market for him.

Desharnais specifically mentioned catching up with his good friend Stuart Skinner over dinner, and taking in the moment when he stepped back on the ice in Rogers Place.
»I had dinner with Skinner last night; it's always good to spend some time with him It's good to have a little morning skate, definitely brought back some great memories.»

While addressing the trade rumours, Canucks coach Tocchet complimented Desharnais' turnaround this season, possibly pumping the breaks on trade rumours.
»I think he's improved over the last two or three weeks. Early on, he struggled a little bit, but the last two, three weeks, his game's coming. He's moving his feet, good stick, he's starting to come.»
- Coach Tocchet
'Vinny and Skinny' formed a great post-win ritual for a few seasons when he was with the Oilers, and it was clear he was well-liked within the locker room and the fanbase.
Desharnais still showed loved to fans today by stopping to sign autographs while entering Rogers Place.
The Edmonton Oilers drafted Desharnais in the 7th round of the 2016 draft, and after years of grinding through the minor leagues, he finally made his NHL debut at 26 years old.
He was an easy player to cheer for with an an incredible work ethic and a fantastic teammate. Oilers fans will be wishing him the best in the rest of his career, but definitely a loss in tonight's game.
