Defenceman reveals savage chirp from McDavid during battle of Alberta
The best rivalry in hockey is the Battle of Alberta between the Oilers and Flames, and now a Flames defenceman revealed a savage chirp from McDavid during a game.
On the Missin' Curfew podcast recently, Flames defenceman Mackenzie Weegar told a story of his on-ice conversations with McDavid in a heated game. Weegar sent a dirty knee-on-knee hit into McDavid, and Connor wasn't happy at all. McDavid came back up to Weegar to press him about the hit, and Weegar told him «You can't be making those moves.» McDavid destroyed him with his response, saying «I'm getting paid $12.5M to make those moves.»
The video above shows the hit Weegar is talking about, and it was clearly a knee-first contact into McDavid.
It's a cold and awesome response from McDavid, showing his confidence and putting Weegar in his place both on and off the ice. It's so rare to hear into the actual conversations which take place on the ice and even more so with active players in a rivalry, so hearing this is a real treat for Oilers fans and hockey fans - but maybe not Flames fans.
The Oilers will travel to Calgary this Saturday night for their final matchup of this season. It should be another fantastic rivalry game!
