As NHL teams begin to prepare for preseason games, the league stated yesterday that each team has prepared a video tribute to honor the tragic deaths of the Gaudreau brothers Matthew and Johnny.
The pain and shock hockey fans and the NHL itself are still feeling the effects after news broke on August 29th that Johnny and his brother Matthew were killed by an alleged drunk driver well cycling along a County Road near Sewell New Jersey.
The league and it's fan base have come to the support of the Gaudreau family along with the Columbus Blue Jackets organization and the Calgary Flames. Fans erected vigils by candlelight or laid flowers at Nationwide Arena or at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
It's widely expected that this year will be tributed to the Gaudreau brothers as the NHL has not experienced a tragedy like this in quite some time.
As a fan of the game, I'm quite proud of how the response has been towards this tragedy and how people have rallied around it especially in other sports.
We would like to continue to express our sympathies and support as all fans of the game continue to work through this humbling time.
