The Edmonton Oilers have a wild card joining their lineup with the addition of John Klingberg, who should enter the lineup for the team's game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Last week, Coach Knoblauch revealed Klingberg's return timeline, and named sometime next week as his hopeful debut.

John Klingberg will debut with Edmonton Oilers against Detroit Red Wings

According to a recent report from Oilers insider Bob Stauffer, Klingberg will make his debut with the team this upcoming Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings.

It's an encouraging turnaround time for Klingberg, who will be playing his first game within just 2 weeks after signing with the Oilers.

Klingberg had been skating with a junior team for months prior to making his return, and even in his first Oilers practice, the veteran seemed to be moving smoothly.

The 32 year old Swedish defenceman used to be an all-star in the NHL by being one of the best offensive defenders in the league - with exceptional passing, shooting, and skating. His 412 points in 633 career games is very impressive for a defenceman.

It's unclear what version of Klingberg the Oilers will get, but for his salary of $1.7M this season, it's a calculated risk.

It's great the Oilers will be able to get him into the lineup for his first game soon, giving themselves as much time as possible before the trade deadline to decide if they still need to make another move to upgrade the defence.

Klingberg's debut is highly anticipated not just by Oilers fans, but by the entire NHL watching to see if he can revive his career. If he can, the Oilers may have solved their biggest need while giving up no trade assets.
