According to NHL Insider Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch, three Edmonton Oilers scouts are at the game.
While scouting the team for needed positions, are the Oilers preparing a massive trade?
John Buccigross came up with the idea of trading major talent between the two teams.
In the trade proposed by Buccigross, the Boston Bruins would send the Edmonton Oilers: Linus Ullmark, Jake DeBrusk, Matthew Poitras, Fabian Lysell and a 2026 1st round pick.
Leon Draisaitl and Warren Foegele would be traded in return for the Boston Bruins.
It is important to keep in mind that this is a trade in order to solve both teams' problems. The Oilers, for example, desperately need a goalie, and the former Vezina Trophy winner would be a huge asset.
In exchange, the Bruins would acquire another franchise center, which they desperately need after losing Patrice Bergeron.
In this trade, Draisaitl is easily the 2nd best player after superstar Connor McDavid.
Foegele would give the Bruins a boost in offensive production in their bottom six as well. Over the course of 11 games with the Oilers, he has scored 3 goals and 5 points, while in 67 games in 2022-2023, he has scored 28 points and accumulated 96 hits.
In exchange for Draisaitl, the Oilers would receive two top prospects, Fabian Lysell and Matthew Poitras, as well as top-six winger Jake DeBrusk.
The trade being a doozy, however, is a wild exchange of talent that both teams might turn down, as the Bruins are giving up so much for just two players. As well as giving up another franchise player for the Oilers.
