During Jack Campbell's time in the American Hockey League, the Oilers will need to consider all their options.
A good example of this is Bakersfield Condors prospect Olivier Rodrigue, who should get a look in the NHL this season. Among the Oilers' goaltending prospects, Rodrigue stands out as one of the best.
As a backup in his first two seasons in the AHL, the 2018 6th-round pick struggled.
In 2020-2021, he had a 2.99 GAA and a .894 save percentage, and in 2021-2022, he had a 3.09 GAA and a .886 save percentage.
His performance has improved since his arrival, and he has shown an upside not seen before.
He had a 2.77 GAA and a .912 save percentage last season and has continued to improve with a 2.00 GAA and a .942 save percentage this season.
With so much chaos in the goalie ranks lately, it seems pertinent that the team should consider giving Rodrigue a shot at a spot on the Oilers, even if serving just as a temporary call-up to see what he's made of.
