The Edmonton Oilers are hitting the ice for a matinee game today against the Philadelphia Flyers after the 4 Nations Faceoff, and some players and coaches spoke on how they spent their break.

Most Oilers had a two week break during the tournament, with some returning early for on off the record practice on a reservation in the area.

Like hockey players do when getting a mid-season break, most decided to head south for a vacation in a tropical destination, and get out of the Edmonton cold.
Hawaii was the vacation destination of choice for several Oilers according to Sportskeeda, including Darnell Nurse, Kasperi Kapanen, and Troy Stecher. Kapanen and Stecher linked up for a game of golf.
Ate lots of food in Hawaii.

- Darnell Nurse

Nurse did also come back a bit early to show support for the PWHL's stop in Rogers Place and watch his sister's team.

Stuart Skinner and Corey Perry were also in attendance of the PWHL game in Edmonton along with their families.
Stuart Skinner and his wife just had a child , so the Oilers goalie stayed at home with his young family during the break - and treated their baby to their first hockey game at not even one month old.
I had a wonderful break. Just full on Dad-mode. It was pretty awesome. I got my workouts in, but for the most part it was just lovely to be with the family sticking around at home. Couldn't really go for walks was the tough part, it being minus 20 out.

Oilers star Leon Draisaitl should've been playing in a best on best tournament, but he spent the break planning his offseason wedding in France with his fiancée.

Oilers coaches reveal how they spent their break

Even a few of the Oilers coaches took the opportunity to get a mid-season vacation in. Coaches Paul Coffey and Glen Gulutzan took opposite directions, one taking the beach and the other going ice fishing.
COFFEY: I just chilled, went to Cabo. It was pretty great.

GULUTZAN: Swan River, Manitoba. Minus 33. My best break yet.

Coach Kris Knoblauch didn't speak much on his break, but said that he and the coaching stauff did get together to watch Connor McDavid's overtime winner for Team Canada.
«The staff and I were at the hotel watching the game and obviously, we were very invested. We were very excited that Connor scored the goal, and I know there were a lot of high fives and a lot of excitement to see him score.»

- Coach Knoblauch

Overall, it sounds like all of the Oilers had a fantastic break, but each player and coach also expressed a heavy desire to get back to the season. They're now in the stretch run of the year before their most important playoff push yet, ten years into McDavid's career.
